On behalf of everyone involved here at Nelson’s Journey I would like to thank the members of The People Kit for holding The Great British Food Quiz; raising much needed funds to support the running of our family bereavement programme and help towards the costs of positive activities throughout 2020. The group’s attention to detail in the lead up to the event was great involving us in their monthly meetings at every stage of the planning.
The support for the Great British Food Quiz was amazing and to see 140 guests attend and fill the room at The Assembly House Norwich in support of Nelson’s Journey was heart-warming. Our dedicated team of youth and adult volunteers who came along to help support the event had a great time selling raffle tickets, interacting with the guests and talking about what we do and the support we provide children and young people who have experienced a significant bereavement.
The guests enjoyed some Tapas style food before taking part in the final rounds of the quiz where a member from each team took part in an omelette challenge. The pressure to cook an edible omelette against each other and the clock created some friendly competition on the stage.
We would also like to thank The Assembly House who hosted the evening with a special thanks going to Richard Hughes who was quiz master for the evening. There were some great auction and raffle prizes that had been donated by local businesses and supporters of Nelson’s Journey which we are so thankful for as they helped raise over £5,000.
We are thrilled The People Kit chose to support us with their fundraising in 2019 to help create a positive difference to the lives of bereaved children and young people locally.
